Protect your floor tiles from cracking caused by substrate movement with our range of professional uncoupling membranes and decoupling membranes. Also known as anti-fracture membrane or decoupling matting, these products are installed between the subfloor and tile adhesive bed to absorb structural movement and prevent stress fractures from transferring through into the tile surface above.
Our range includes the SUBSTRAT DecoupleX — a German-engineered polypropylene matting with fleece backing — alongside the DuraElite Max Decoupling Matting and Mapei MAPEGUARD UM 35. All products are compatible with ceramic, porcelain and natural stone tiles on floors, and are suitable for use with electric underfloor heating systems.
Uncoupling membrane is particularly recommended where tiles are being laid on heated screeds, timber joisted floors, chipboard or any substrate with inherent movement. It is also the right choice when laying tiles over existing adhesive residues or uneven surfaces that cannot be fully made flat. If you are also waterproofing a wetroom, pair with our SUBSTRAT wetroom waterproofing systems for a complete tanking and decoupling solution, or use the Ardex SK waterproofing accessories also stocked in this collection.
