Description
Mapei UltraCare Acid Cleaner is a concentrated, acid-based cleaner in liquid form for stripping stubborn cementitious grout and adhesive residue from porcelain, ceramic, glass mosaic and acid-resistant natural stone after installation. Its buffered inorganic acid formulation is as effective against stains and efflorescence as much stronger acids (muriatic, sulfuric, etc.) without producing the dangerous toxic fumes those acids give off, and it contains surfactants that give it a genuine detergent action alongside its acid clean.
Dilute between 1:5 and 1:10 with water depending on the level of soiling and the surface being treated — or use undiluted to strip engobbio from porcelain and ceramic material. Apply the diluted solution, leave in contact for around 5 minutes, work over the surface with a single-disc cleaning machine or emulsifying pad, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Only use on fully cured grout (1–10 days depending on the grout system used).

Suitable for
- Post-installation clean-up of porcelain, ceramic, glass mosaic, quarry tile and acid-resistant natural stone
- Removing salt and limescale efflorescence from terracotta and porcelain
- Cleaning site dirt from ceramics, sinks, tanks, anodised aluminium, stainless steel and chrome fittings
- Trade tilers and installers cleaning down after grouting on internal or external façades
Not suitable for: polished marble, limestone or other calcareous stone, cementitious terrazzo, or ceramic tiles and enamelled baths with non-acid-resistant enamel. Always carry out a preliminary test on doubtful surfaces, use with rubber gloves and eye protection, and rinse thoroughly — do not leave on grout joints too long as this can cause colour variation over time.
